Jangaon: Tension prevailed at Jangaon as Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy and his followers allegedly tried to kidnap an independent candidate who supported the BRS.
The BRS had won in 13 wards, Congress in 12 wards, BRS and Congress rebels won two wards each while a CPI (M) candidate won with support from the Congress party. BRS rebels have already supported the BRS, while the Congress rebel candidate Bhusha Parvatala also supported the BRS to win the municipal chairperson post.
With this, Parvatala was taken to the BRS camp, when MP Kiran Kumar Reddy stopped him and tried to take him away forcibly. BRS MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, who reached the scene, tried to stop the MP. It led to an altercation between them.
At Wardhannapet former MLA Aroori Ramesh staged a protest on the national highway alleging that election officials announced that Congress party candidate won the 12th ward even after the BRS candidate secured a majority of seven votes in the ward.
Ramesh alleged that the election officials came under pressure from the sitting MLA KR Nagaraju and demanded that the officials work transparently by recounting the 12th ward votes.
