According to locals, a Ganesh idol had been installed near the Double Bedroom Building at Madannapet, where an ‘annadanam’ programme was also organised on Sunday.

The situation became tense after some locals noticed a piece of chicken near the pandal. They suspected that it had been deliberately thrown from the nearby Double Bedroom Building.

On being informed, local BJP workers and members of other organisations gathered at the spot and staged a protest alleging a deliberate attempt to desecrate the pandal, demanding action against those responsible.

Police rushed additional forces to the area to prevent any escalation. The protesters called off the agitation after police assured them that a case would be registered and action taken against those responsible.
