Suryapet: Tension prevailed at Pulichinthla project in Chinthalapalem mandal of the district, when Jaggayyapeta MLA (AP) Udhya Bhanu tried to reach the project on the pretext of examining the power generation along with media persons.

The police stopped Jaggayyapeta MLA at Bugga madhavaram and barred his entry to the project. Udhya Bhanu tried to stage a protest at the site but was objected and returned from the place.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, he alleged that though he has informed Superintendent of Police of Suryapet district about his plant to visit the project, a huge number of police were deployed at the place by the Government of Telangana. He  was not permitted to visit the project by Telangana police. The ministers of Telangana state have been making provocative comments even after Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy appealed for an amicable solution for the issue. He said they would even be ready to face God in the matters of Krishna river water sharing. The Government of Telangana has also not accepted the date fixed by Krishna River Board for meeting on July 9, he added.

He said that Telangana government should take up generation of electricity with the waters of Pulichinthala Project only when there was excess water or releasing of water from the project for irrigation facility to the farmers.

He alleged that 7.5 tmc of Krishna river water was going to wastage due to the act of the Telangana government.

He made it clear that there was no truth in the allegation of Telangana government on diversion of water from Srisailam project to Rayalaseema through Pothireddypadu Head Regulator. He claimed that water would be drawn to Pothireddypadu Head Regulator from the project only when there was excess water.
