Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed at Malkajgiri Mandal Revenue Office (MRO) on Friday when supporters of Congress and BRS clashed during the distribution of ‘Kalyana Lakshmi’ and ‘Shaadi Mubarak’ cheques to beneficiaries.
The incident occurred during an event to distribute the cheques, which was organized by Malkajgiri MLA Marri Rajasekhar Reddy in the presence of Malkajgiri MRO Sitaram.
During the cheque distribution event, BRS leaders and party workers demanded that the State government fulfil its promise of distributing one tola of gold along with the cheque of Rs one lakh, as promised during elections and raised slogans against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the Congress party.
The protests led to an argument between BRS and Congress activists. A scuffle broke out between the two groups that eventually led to a clash.
The police intervened and pacified both groups and brought the situation under control.
