Kothagudem: The annual ‘Teppotsavam’ (float festival) of the presiding deity of Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy temple at Bhadrachalam in the district, took place in a colourful but subdued manner on Wednesday.
The ceremonial idols of Lord Rama and His consort Sita and His brother Lakshmana were installed on a miniature ‘hamsavahanam’ that floated in a pool, artificially created at Nitya Kalyana Mandapam, amid Vedic chantings by priests.
Special prayers were offered to the presiding deity as part of Mukkoti Ekadashi Adhyayanostavams at the temple. Additional Collector K Venkateshwarlu, Bhadrachalam ASP Akshansh Yadav, the temple EO Banoth Shivaji and the temple priests attended the event.
Another main event of Mukkoti celebrations, ‘Uttara Dwara Darshanam’ would take place on Thursday when Lord Rama would appear as Maha Vishshu. On the same day, ‘Rapattu’ ceremonies during nights would begin, officials informed.
It might be noted that the endowment officials following directions from the State government have cancelled public celebration of Mukkoti Ekadashi in view of spread of Covid-19 variant Omicron.
