TG-SAFE raids seven restaurants in Hyderabad, finds food safety violations

Telangana’s TG-SAFE enforcement wing inspected seven Hyderabad restaurants, detecting expired food, hygiene lapses, pest infestation, and improper labelling. Officials lifted 11 samples for adulteration tests and issued notices to several establishments.

Hyderabad: The Enforcement wing of the Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) conducted a special inspection drive at seven restaurants in Hyderabad’s core urban region and detected several food safety and hygiene violations.

Six enforcement teams comprising Food Safety Officers and police personnel carried out inspections at Chutneys, Spice 6 and Ohri’s in Banjara Hills; The Spicy Venue in Jubilee Hills; 4 Seasons Multi-Cuisine Restaurant and Shah Ghouse Restaurant in Tolichowki; and Pista House Restaurant in Gachibowli.

During the inspections, officials found hygiene deficiencies at some establishments and detected expired food articles. Violations relating to the handling and storage of food items were also noticed. Spoiled vegetables, lapses in food labelling and display requirements, and pest infestation were among the other violations reported by the officials.

Following the inspections, the enforcement teams lifted 11 food samples on suspicion of adulteration for further analysis. Four improvement notices and three show-cause notices were also issued to the concerned establishments.
