Hyderabad: The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) has suspended the food safety licences of four eateries in Hyderabad and ordered them to stop operations immediately after inspections revealed serious hygiene violations.
The establishments are NR’s Nandini Sudha at Chikkadpally, Sai Darshini and Universal Restaurant at Vengal Rao Nagar, and Harsha Delux Mess at Ameerpet.
According to officials, seven enforcement teams comprising Food Safety Officers and police personnel inspected 13 restaurants and canteens in Ameerpet, Jubilee Hills, Madhapur, Chikkadpally, Hafeezpet and Vengal Rao Nagar. The inspections revealed damaged and slippery floors, water stagnation, greasy walls and exhausts, cockroach and rodent infestations, foul-smelling kitchens and unhygienic washing areas.
Officials also found food handlers working without hairnets and aprons, missing health and pest-control records, and refrigerators storing vegetarian and non-vegetarian food together. Some food articles lacked proper labels.
TG SAFE collected 16 food samples on suspicion of adulteration. An improvement notice will be issued to Absolute Barbeque in Jubilee Hills, while show-cause notices will be served on seven establishments over reported violations.
Officials said the establishments would be reinspected to verify compliance and that further action, including penalties, would follow based on the findings.
