TG SAFE suspended FSSAI licences of nine food establishments in LB Nagar after inspections found serious food safety violations, including spoiled meat and vegetables, pest infestations, expired food and poor hygiene. Officials inspected 20 establishments and collected 20 food samples for testing

Hyderabad: The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) has suspended the FSSAI licences of nine food establishments in the LB Nagar area and directed them to stop business operations immediately in the interest of public health after officials found serious food safety violations during inspections.
The establishments whose licences were suspended are Hotel Sangeeth Grand Restaurant and Bar, Bahar Biryani Café, Balaji Pheni and Namkeen, Bhuvaneshwari Oil Industries, Hotel Sindhura East Court, Chemistry Bar and Kitchen (Surabhi Grand), New Limra Hotel, N Village Multicuisine Restaurant at Champapet, and Hotel Kinara Grand Restaurant and Bar at Vanasthalipuram.
Ten teams from the TG SAFE Enforcement Wing, comprising Food Safety Officers and police personnel, conducted a special drive in the LB Nagar area and inspected 20 food establishments, including restaurants, hotels and manufacturing units.
Officials found spoiled and contaminated meat and vegetables, cockroach, housefly and rodent infestations, unhygienic premises, poor maintenance of records and refrigerators, improper segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, expired food articles and pest-infested food. Food handlers were also found not maintaining proper hygiene.
The teams lifted 20 food samples on suspicion of adulteration. Spoiled and rotten vegetables, stale meat, and raw materials such as groundnuts and flour infested with insects and pests were discarded on the spot.
