Hyderabad: To mark the United Nations International Day for Biological Diversity, the Telangana Forest Development Corporation (TGFDC) organised a community-driven seed ball-making and distribution programme at Dhanvantari Vanam, located within the Botanical Garden in Kondapur.
The event is perfectly aligned with the global 2026 biodiversity theme, “Acting locally for global impact,” by transforming daily morning walkers into active conservationists. Over 80 morning walkers from the Botanical Garden community participated in creating and distributing thousands of seed balls embedded with native tree species, aimed at boosting green cover across the city.
L Ranjeeth Nayak, Executive Director, Eco-Tourism, TGFDC, said, “True ecological preservation begins at the grassroots level. By involving regular citizens and walkers in making seed balls, we are turning local enthusiasm into real, measurable environmental impact.”
The event witnessed active participation from all the Naturalists of Deccan Woods and Trails, who guided citizens and walkers in the scientific preparation of seed balls to ensure better germination during the monsoon.
