TGMC detects unauthorised medical practitioners during Alwal inspections

The Telangana Medical Council detected alleged unauthorised medical practice during inspections at four clinics in Alwal. Officials found individuals allegedly providing allopathic treatment and prescribing medicines without required qualifications or authorisation. The Council said action would be initiated against them.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC), during inspections in Alwal on Sunday, detected clinics and nursing homes that were being operated by individuals who did not have required qualifications, registration, or legal authorisation.

TGMC team, including Dr Gundagani Srinivas and Dr Imran, during the inspections found Shankara Shashanka Clinic at Alwal being operated by Gopu Srinivas, who was allegedly practising allopathy without a valid licence/registration, and he had not qualified for the FMG examination. At Sri Sai Poly Clinic, G Janaki Ramulu, a physiotherapist, allegedly issued allopathic prescriptions beyond the scope of authorised practice.

At Komal Clinic, the team found an individual, Sudarshan, was providing allopathic treatment without required qualifications and authorisation. Similarly, at Shebha Clinic, an individual, Christopher, was allegedly practising modern medicine without the requisite medical qualifications.

The team observed that such unauthorised practitioners were allegedly administering steroids, painkillers, antibiotic injections and other prescription medicines indiscriminately, thereby posing a serious risk to public health. The Council will initiate action and register cases against them under the NMC and TMPR Acts.
