TGPCB holds eco-friendly Ganesh idol workshop for students

The Telangana Pollution Control Board held a workshop for 108 students on making eco-friendly clay Ganesh idols. The board is also planning workshops across 19 schools and promoting clay idols and responsible immersion through awareness campaigns across Telangana.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Pollution Control Board (TGPCB) hosted an awareness workshop on eco-friendly clay Ganesh idol making for 108 students from five different schools at its head office in Sanathnagar on Monday.

Inaugurated by Member Secretary G Ravi, the event aimed to discourage harmful Plaster of Paris idols and protect water bodies from pollution.

Stressing that natural clay dissolves safely, the Member Secretary encouraged students to champion sustainable immersion practices within their communities.

As part of its statewide ECo-Friendly Festival Campaign, the TGPCB announced upcoming workshops across 19 schools in the CURE area starting September 8, targeting nearly 120 student participants. Senior board officials attended the session, distributing participation certificates to inspire young environmental stewards.

The PCB has already distributed over 3.26 lakh clay idols via district collectorates and temples, backed by ongoing auto campaigns and posters. The PCB is also undertaking publicity activities through auto campaigns and posters to promote the use of eco-friendly Ganesh idols and responsible immersion practices.
