Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) on Sunday launched a new CCTV surveillance initiative in buses to enhance passenger safety and security across the State.
Under the pilot project titled ‘Bus lo Bharosa,’ nearly 175 buses in the Adilabad region have been fitted with advanced cameras covering the driver cabin, women’s reserved seats, entry points and passenger areas. The system enables real-time monitoring by TGSRTC control rooms and staff.
Officials said the project aims to prevent thefts, harassment and other untoward incidents while improving safety for women, senior citizens and night travellers.
The initiative was introduced under the supervision of TGSRTC Managing Director Y Nagireddy in coordination with the police department.
Following positive public response, the corporation is planning to expand the CCTV system to buses across Telangana in phases.
