TGSRTC and South Central Railway have announced special travel arrangements for Bathukamma, Dasara and Diwali. Over 7,700 buses and joint security plans will help manage heavy passenger rush. Extra services, camps, and patrolling will ensure safe festival travel
Hyderabad: With Bathukamma, Dasara and Diwali festivities around the corner, the TGSRTC and SCR have announced extensive arrangements to manage the festive rush of passengers.
The TGSRTC will operate 7,754 special buses between September 20 and October 2. Of these, 377 buses will offer advance reservation facilities. The highest demand is expected from September 27, ahead of Saddula Bathukamma on September 30 and Dasara on October 2. Extra return services will run on October 5 and 6.
Further, special services will also be operated from key city points such as MGBS, JBS, CBS, KPHB, Uppal, Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar, Aramghar and Santosh Nagar, linking Hyderabad not only with districts of Telangana but also with Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Passenger camps with seating, drinking water and public address systems will be set up at major boarding points.
Meanwhile, the South Central Railway (SCR) has launched a joint action plan with RPF, GRP, local police, traffic police and TGSRTC to handle the expected surge in rail passenger traffic between September 19 and October 28.
Security and crowd management will be intensified at Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Charlapalli, Lingampalli and Kacheguda stations, with special checks at foot overbridges, waiting halls and circulating areas to prevent stampede-like situations.
Police and railway authorities will step up patrolling, frisking and anti-sabotage checks, while traffic police will enforce no-parking zones and regulate vehicle movement near stations. TGSRTC will also run late-night buses from major railway stations to ease the rush.
Officials said the coordinated efforts are aimed at ensuring safe, smooth and comfortable travel for festival-bound passengers.
