Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has decided to take up a series of measures to strengthen first- and last-mile connectivity in the capital region, as part of its efforts to improve the city’s public transport system.
According to TGSRTC officials, the corporation will enhance bus services to and from major MMTS stations based on passenger demand and footfall data to be provided by the local railway authorities. Special focus will be placed on high-density residential and commercial areas to ensure seamless connectivity for daily commuters.
TGSRTC will work closely with the GHMC authorities to further map existing bus routes and stops near all 51 MMTS stations across Hyderabad. Based on the assessment, new routes will be introduced and service frequency increased as and when required as per public demand.
Similarly, the GHMC has been requested to take up road widening and infrastructure improvements along key corridors to support smoother bus operations.
The corporation is also exploring the introduction of feeder services, including through private operators, to connect MMTS stations with nearby localities. These services may be integrated with GPS-based monitoring systems and operated within designated zones to improve reliability and coverage.
In addition, TGSRTC plans to coordinate with Metro Rail authorities to link metro stations with nearby bus stops to reduce congestion and ease pedestrian movement. The feasibility of implementing an integrated ticketing system for RTC buses, Metro Rail and MMTS services is also under consideration for a long time.
TGSRTC officials said the initiatives aim to provide passengers with a more convenient, efficient and well-connected public transport network across the capital region.
