Hyderabad: After his audio conversation went viral and triggered a row within the Telangana Congress, Government Advisor Mohd Shabbir Ali asserted that the audio clip being circulated was fake, doctored and politically motivated.
“A deliberate and serious attempt has been made to tarnish my image and create mistrust within the Congress party,” Shabbir Ali said on Sunday.
The Government Advisor gave a three-page explanation to the notice issued by the TPCC Disciplinary Committee on Saturday. In the audio conversation, the Government Advisor purportedly alleged that positions were being sold for money in the Telangana Congress, besides rampant sexual exploitation of women.
As the issue snowballed into a major row, the TPCC Disciplinary Committee sought an explanation from the Government Advisor.
“Any suggestion that I would make derogatory remarks against TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud or women associated with the Congress party is completely false,” Shabbir Ali said.
The former Minister also stated that such fabricated material was often circulated precisely to provoke reactions, divert attention and cause greater damage.
“I will be pursuing criminal defamation and legal proceedings against all those responsible for creating and broadcasting the fake clip without verification,” Shabbir Ali said, adding that the Kamareddy Congress unit had already lodged a complaint with the local police over the issue.
