Three feared drowned as sudden downpour flood Hyderabad, search underway

A sudden and intense downpour on Sunday evening left Hyderabad reeling, with at least three people feared drowned in separate incidents. Two teenagers from Mangar Basthi were swept away in the swollen Afzalsagar Nala in Mallepally, while a man reportedly fell into a nala in Vinobanagar, Musheerabad.

Hyderabad: At least three people are feared to have drowned in separate rain-related incidents across Hyderabad on Sunday evening, following a sudden spell of heavy rains.

The downpour, which lasted for a couple of hours, inundated several areas and brought vehicular movement to a grinding halt.

Two teenagers from Mangar Basthi are feared to have been washed away in the surging waters of Afzalsagar Nala, Mallepally. They reportedly slipped into the swollen nala and drowned before help could arrive.

In another incident, a man is feared dead after falling into a nala at Vinobanagar in Musheerabad.

Upon receiving the information, local police, along with teams from HYDRAA and the fire department, rushed to the scene and launched search operations to trace the missing individuals.

Notably, Shaikpet recorded the highest rainfall at 8 cm, followed by East Anandbagh, Bandlaguda, and Lalapet. Waterlogging was reported in multiple localities including Kushaiguda, Abids, Himayathnagar, Tolichowki, Neredmet, and Ramnagar as the intense downpour wreaked havoc across the city.
