Hyderabad: Three persons who were allegedly organizing cricket betting were caught by the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (North) on Thursday following a raid at a star hotel near Raj Bhavan. The police seized Rs. 40,000 cash and four mobile phones used for organizing the betting from them.
Acting on a tip off, the Task Force team raided a room on the seventh floor of the hotel in Somajiguda and caught Sharath Agarwal (29), Shah Ankith (28) and Rohit Agarwal (33), all residents of Sultan Bazaar in the city.
Sharath Agarwal and Shah Ankith are organizers of the racket while Rohit Agarwal is a punter.
“The gang was organizing online cricket betting on the ongoing IPL matches and collecting money from participants through online and offline mode,” said P Radha Kishan Rao, DCP (Task Force).
The three persons along with the property were handed over to the Punjagutta police for further action.
