Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Three persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in the electrocution of two persons at Easgaon village in Kaghaznagar mandal on Wednesday night.
Producing them before the media in Kaghaznagar on Saturday, DSP Adla Karunakar said that the accused Anup Kumar Biswas, Haripada Haldar and Sanjay Sarkar, all agriculture labourers and wild animal hunters, belonged to Easgaon village. The victims were Tegala Durgaraj (29) and Kannepalli Satthaiah (37), both hunters from the similar village.
During the course of interrogation, the three confessed to setting up an electrified snare, using power from a high-tension line, to hunt wild boars in a standing red gram filed that resulted in the death of Durgaraj and Satthaiah at 8.30 pm on September 15. They admitted that they buried the bodies under mango trees in a farm to cover up their offence.
Laxmi, Durgaraj’s wife, spotted his mobile phone at the spot and found the bodies under the tree. She lodged a complaint with Easgaon police who registered a case and took up investigations. Kaghaznagar Rural Inspector Rajendra Prasad and Easgoan Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kumar nabbed the accused within two days.
Durgaraj and Satthaiah were electrocuted when they went to hunt wild animals. Karunakar commended Inspector Rajendra Prasad, SI Sandeep and their team members for cracking the case quickly. He warned of stern action against those who steal power from electricity lines and kill wild animals.
