Former rowdy sheeter booked for assaulting minor

Hyderabad: A minor boy was brutally assaulted allegedly by a former rowdy sheeter and his sons, leaving him with a fractured hand at P&T Colony in Saroornagar on Sunday.

According to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, her son Sai, a Grade X student, had gone to a nearby curry point when the pet dog of one Lanka Lakshmi Narayana, a former rowdy sheeter, allegedly frightened him and his friend on the road.

The boys drove the dog away and left, but when returning home, Sai was allegedly confronted by Lakshmi Narayana along with his sons Lanka Shiva and another youth, who accused him of scaring their pet.

The trio allegedly attacked Sai with sticks, twisted his neck, and inflicted injuries on his body. The boy managed to run back home in panic and informed his mother. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors confirmed that his left hand was fractured and required immediate treatment.

Local residents condemned the attack, questioning why the family let their dog roam without a leash and strongly criticising the assault on the teenager.

The victim’s family lodged a complaint at Saroornagar police station, following which a case has been registered against Lakshmi Narayana and Lanka Shiva, and investigation is under way.
