Three members of inter-State burglary gang held in Hyderabad
The police recovered cash, gold and silver ornaments, all put together worth Rs 8 lakh, apart from two crowbars used to break into the houses.

Hyderabad: A three-member inter-state gang which carried out a series of house burgleries during Sankranti festival in the city was arrested by the Osmania University police here on Friday.
The police recovered cash, gold and silver ornaments, all put together worth Rs 8 lakh, apart from two crowbars used to break into the houses.
The gang was involved in seven house burglaries in Hyderabad, Rachakonda in the State and Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. The arrested persons were identified as A. Durgas Rao alias Durga from Krishna district and P. Umamaheshwar Rao and P.Kiran Babu, from Guntur district of AP.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said Durga Rao along with his associates Umamaheshwar Rao and Kiran Babu identified and targeted locked houses in secluded residential colonies. “They come to the city and stayed in local lodges. They do recce of residential colonies walking around or in an auto-rickshaw and then break into houses,” he said.
Durga who was involved in over 100 cases, always carried a backpack with iron rods and prepared to break into houses. Umamaheshwar Rao was found to be involved in nearly 300 cases and Kiran Babu in 30 cases in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
In January this year, the gang was involved in cases in Osmania University police limits, Uppal, Hayathnagar, Malkajgiri here and Peddanandipadu and Amaravathi in Andhra Pradesh, the police said.
