Adilabad: Three members of an inter-state gang involved in lifting heavy vehicles were arrested. Police seized a car and three mobile phones from them.

Briefing media persons about the arrest here on Thursday, SP Akhil Mahajan said that Saleem and Nafeez Khan, both drivers from Haryana, and Imtiaz Hussain, a mechanic from Rajasthan, were taken into custody. The three were detained while trying to flee during a vehicle check conducted at Mavala on Wednesday night. Seven more members of the gang were booked for their role in the offence.

Akhil said that the three confessed to lifting heavy vehicles such as trucks, tippers and lorries parked on national highways and at fuel stations in Telangana, Maharashtra and Gujarat while moving in a car. They admitted to dismantling the vehicles within a single day by separating the parts. They told police that they were earning huge amounts of money by selling the parts.

The SP commended staff of the cyber cell, technical team, Adilabad Rural, Mavala police stations and CCS teams for nabbing the three by showing alertness. Adilabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy, Inspectors Prem Kumar and Phanidhar, SI Srikanth and other police officials were present.
