Nagarkurnool: Three teenagers drowned in a farm pond at Mucherlapally village in Urukonda mandal here on Sunday afternoon. The victims were identified as Siri (14), Srimanyu (14) and Sneha (15).
While Siri and Srimanyu were natives of Mucherlapally village, Sneha hailed from Maheswaram in Rangareddy district. The three had come to the village from Hyderabad for a holiday and were staying with their relatives.
After lunch, they went to a farm pond located on agricultural land in the village to spend time together. While they were playing near the pond, one of them slipped into the water and raised an alarm. In an attempt to rescue their friend, the other two jumped into the pond.
However, all three teenagers drowned before any help could reach them.
Locals said the pond was small in size but had a considerable quantity of water stored for agricultural requirements.
