Two siblings drown in farm pond in Mulugu

Two sisters drowned after accidentally falling into a farm pond at Kasindepeta village in Mulugu on Sunday. They had accompanied their father, a CPI leader, to his cotton field, where he was spraying pesticides

Mulugu: Two sisters drowned after accidentally falling into a farm pond while accompanying their father to his agricultural field at Kasindepeta village in Mulugu mandal of the district on Sunday.

According to sources, a CPI leader, Mohammad Amjad Pasha of the village, had gone to his cotton field with his family to spray pesticides. His two daughters, Samyan (19) and Asiya (10), had accompanied him.

While their father was working in the field, the two girls wandered to a nearby farm pond, which had been dug for irrigation purposes. When the children could not be found after some time, their anxious parents searched the surrounding area.

They later checked the farm pond and found both girls in it. By the time they were retrieved from the pond, they had already died. The incident cast a pall of gloom over the village.
