Hyderabad: Three more international passengers who had arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad, have tested positive for Omicron variant on Sunday, taking the overall number of Omicron variant positive cases in Telangana to 44 out of which 10 have already recovered.
Out of three Omicron variant positive cases, two passengers had arrived at RGIA, Shamshabad from non at-risk countries while one person was a close contact of Omicron variant positive passenger.
Overall, since December 1, a total of 11,493 international passengers were screened and underwent RT-PCR tests at RGIA. In the RT-PCR tests, 85 passengers tested Covid positive out of which 44 were positive for Omicron variant. While 10 Omicron variant positive patients have recovered, the remaining 34 are under treatment. Out of the 44 Omicron positive patients, 28 passengers were from non at-risk countries while only four were from at-risk countries. So far, two close contacts of Omicron positive patients have also tested positive for the new variant of the SARS-CoV-2.
On Sunday, a total of 248 international passengers arrived at RGIA, Shamshabad out of which two have tested Covid positive. Including the blood samples of the two Covid positive passengers on Sunday, genome sequencing results of 16 blood samples to ascertain Omicron variant are awaited, health bulletin said.
