Three women from Telangana’s DDS honoured with Plant Genome Saviour Community Award
Three women from Telangana’s Deccan Development Society received the Plant Genome Saviour Community Award for conserving 82 traditional seed varieties at a community seed bank in Sangareddy. The award was presented by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan
The women received the national award from Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan during a ceremony in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Sangareddy: Three women from the Deccan Development Society (DDS) have been conferred the prestigious Plant Genome Saviour Community Award for 2022–23 by the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Authority (PPV&FRA), Government of India.
The awardees — Molgeri Chandramma, Hussengari Suryakala and Suryapeta Nagamma — were recognised for their efforts in conserving and protecting more than 82 varieties of traditional seeds of different crops at a community seed bank in Manchur village of Jharasangam mandal.
They received the award from Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan during a ceremony held in New Delhi on Wednesday.
