Three workers die of asphyxiation in Kothagudem’s Cherla
A fatal incident at a Mission Bhagiratha reservoir site in Unjupalli, Kothagudem district, claimed the lives of three labourers while attempting to fix a water pump inside a sump. A fourth worker, Kondal Rao, was hospitalised and is recovering.

Kothagudem: Three labourers died of asphyxiation while working inside a Mission Bhagiratha ground level service reservoir at Unjupalli in Cherla mandal on Tuesday.
It was said that the workers were engaged in fixing a water pump in the sump. According to the eye witnesses, workers Neelam Tulasiram (37) and Kaka Mahesh (34) entered the sump first. On hearing their cries for help Ishaq (40) entered the sump.
After a while another one, Kondal Rao entered the sump as the trio did not come out. The other workers who noticed it checked inside the sump and found them unconscious. Tulasiram of Lingapuram and Mahesh of Unjupalli in Cherla mandal were found dead after they were brought out.
Ishaq of Tanuku in Andhra Pradesh died while being shifted to Bhadrachalam Area Hospital while Kondal Rao of Kakinada is recovering at the hospital. Cherla police visited the spot and registered a case in connection with the incident.
