Thriansh Sai, Ruthvik win 225th Brilliant Trophy Chess Tournament

Both Thriansh Sai and Akella Sankalpa Ruthvik clinched titles via tie-breaks

Hyderabad: Thriansh Sai and Akella Sankalpa Ruthvik emerged as winners in the juniors and open categories, respectively, at the 225th Brilliant Trophy Chess Tournament held at Brilliant Grammar High School, Dilsukhnagar, on Sunday.

In the junior category, Thriansh Sai of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Filmnagar and Sai Anshitha finished tied at the top with 5.5 points each after six rounds. In the tie-break, Thriansh Sai secured the title, while Sai Anshitha finished as the runner-up. Sathwik Reddy settled for third place with 5 points.

Meanwhile, in the open category, Sankalpa Ruthvik, Aashish Reddy and Perumallu all finished with 5 points each after six rounds. Following the tie-break, Akella Sankalpa Ruthvik was crowned champion, while Aashish Reddy and Perumallu secured second and third places, respectively.
