Mancherial: The movement of a tiger forced the management of a private school to close the institution for a day in Bellampalli on Saturday.
Sri Chaitanya School principal Sanjeev declared a holiday for the institution considering the movement of the tiger on the outskirts of Bellampalli town.
Bellampalli Forest Range Officer Purnachander said a female tiger, which drifted towards the district from Tiryani of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district in search of territory recently, was roaming in the forests situated on the edges of Kannala and Dubbagudem villages and Kuntaramulu Basthi of Bellampalli town.
He said they were tracking the tiger’s movement by deploying animal trackers, besides taking steps to prevent human loss.
The official said a road leading to a hill temple located in the forests from Kannala village was closed temporarily as a precautionary measure.
Forest officials requested the villagers not to use the road in the wake of the movement of the tiger.
The same tiger was sighted at an irrigation tank on the outskirts of Buggagudem village in Kasipet mandal on Friday. Its pugmarks were recorded at the tank.
