Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) officials who went to his residence on Monday to take over the place after his death last year, were surprised to find currency bundles and coins all over the place.

The TTD, as part of its expansion programme, had allotted houses in Seshachalanagar to hundreds of families living around the temple premises. Under this, a destitute, Srinivasachari, was also allotted a house there.

Srinivasachari who had no family or children, lived in solitude. He used to take small change and bless people who came to him and give them yellow threads and akshatas. He kept the money in a trunk and small bags.

When he died last year, the neighbours performed his last rites.
The TTD officials who went to his residence on Monday found the money stashed all over the place. It took a marathon four-and-a-half hours to count the money which amounted to Rs.10 lakh.

The money will be credited to the Tirumala temple hundi account.
