Tommy Dorfman comes out as transwoman
Tommy has been living as a woman for some time now and has been sharing her life on Instagram freely.
The ‘13 Reasons Why’ breakout star Tommy Dorfman has come out as a transwoman. The star, who will now be using the pronouns she/her, made the announcement on her Instagram on Thursday.
Posting a picture of herself in a red sheer dress, Tommy wrote, “Thrilled to reintroduce myself as the woman I am today. my pronouns are she/her. Thank you, @time, for this space, @torreyadora for writing this story, and @gizellehernandez for these images. I’m especially grateful to every single trans person who walked this path, broke down barriers, and risked their lives to live authentically and radically as themselves before me. Thank you to all the trans woman that showed me who I am, how to live, celebrate myself, and take up space in this world (sic).”
Tommy has been living as a woman for some time now and has been sharing her life on Instagram freely. The actor, who plays Ryan Shaver in the Netflix show, revealed that she has also undergone a medical transition. However, she will be retaining her given name in honour of her namesake, a late uncle. Since the announcement, Tommy also stated that she will no longer be accepting any male roles. She hopes to merge her new identity with her professional career.
