Watch: Traffic snarls on NH-161 as voters head home for third phase polls in Sangareddy

Heavy traffic congestion was reported on NH-161 at the Taddhanpally toll plaza in Sangareddy district on Wednesday as voters travelled from Hyderabad to their native places to participate in the third phase of gram panchayat elections.

Sangareddy: Traffic came to a standstill on NH-161 at the Taddhanpally toll plaza in Chowtakur mandal as vehicles made a beeline from Wednesday morning.

With the third phase of elections scheduled in Narayankhed, Kamareddy and parts of Nizamabad districts on Wednesday, many people, who were residing in Hyderabad, took the road to reach their native places to exercise their franchise.

As there were limited lanes on the busy stretch, it took nearly 15 to 30 minutes for vehicles to cross the toll plaza.

Several commuters expressed concern over whether they would reach their polling stations in time.
