Heavy traffic congestion was reported on NH-161 at the Taddhanpally toll plaza in Sangareddy district on Wednesday as voters travelled from Hyderabad to their native places to participate in the third phase of gram panchayat elections.
The bus was heading towards Sangareddy from Narayankhed when the incident occurred. Since the bus was going at high speed at the time of the mishap, several passengers sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to the area hospital in Jogipet for treatment. The police registered a case.
The body was taken to the government hospital in Jogipet for postmortem. The Jogipet police reportedly took the driver into custody. A case was registered.
Mamatha worked as an adda labour in Sangareddy to earn a livelihood after separating from her husband. The police were suspecting it as a case of murder.
The issue cropped up when the vehicle driver, who lived in a nearby village, entered into an argument with the toll plaza management over the toll charges.
