Indie puppy adoption event wins hearts of dog lovers in Hyderabad
GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan inaugurated the Indie Puppy Adoption Fair at Jalagam Vengalrao Park, urging adopters to treat native puppies as family. Of the 39 healthy puppies showcased, 24 were adopted. The fair promoted the slogan “Adopt, Don’t Shop.”

Hyderabad: In a heartwarming event, dog lovers in Hyderabad were captivated by the adoption of Indie puppies.
The event, hosted by the GHMC for the first time at Jalagam Vengalrao Park, Banjara Hills, on Sunday, saw a significant turnout of animal enthusiasts eager to provide loving homes for these adorable pups. The initiative aimed to promote the adoption of Indie dogs, which are often overlooked in favour of more popular breeds.
Dog lovers began arriving as early as 6.30 am, at the popular park in the city. A festive atmosphere prevailed at the adoption show. Children especially enjoyed the event, which added more excitement to the Indie puppy showcase. A total of 39 beautiful, healthy, dewormed and vaccinated native puppies were showcased at the fair.
To mark the occasion, GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan handed over the first puppy to CH Sai from Kukatpally. In total, 24 puppies were adopted by dog lovers at the event. GHMC officials expressed their delight at the positive response from the community and the successful placement of many puppies into caring families. The organisers hope that this initiative will encourage more people to consider adopting Indie dogs in the future.
