Trio held with MDMA in Hyderabad, charged under NDPS Act
Three individuals were arrested by the Prohibition and Excise Department in Hyderabad for possessing and attempting to sell MDMA. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
Hyderabad: Three persons who were carrying MDMA drugs were arrested by the Prohibition and Excise Department sleuths in the city on Saturday.
The arrested are Daniel Raju, Abhiram and Akhilesh. According to the officials, Daniel Raju, who is a native of Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh, along with two others, had gone to Bengaluru, and the trio brought along 31 grams of MDMA with them. On information, the Malkajgiri District Task Force team caught them when they were in search of customers in the city.
A case has been registered against them under the NDPS Act, and an investigation is going on.
In a related news, the Cyberabad police, during weekend drunk driving checks on Saturday night, caught 319 persons at different places.
Among those caught were 245 two-wheeler riders, 12 three-wheeler riders, 58 four-wheelers and four drivers of heavy vehicles. Seven persons recorded BAC levels ranging between 301mg/100 ml to 550 mg/100 ml.
The Miyapur police caught 41 persons, followed by Shadnagar 38 people, and Rajendranagar and Shamshabad 32 each.
Cases were also booked against the violators, and they will have to appear before the court, said the traffic police.
