Hyderabad: A high-level delegation led by Tripura State Electricity Regulatory Commission Chairman D Radhakrishna and other senior officials visited IDA Jeedimetla smart grid control centre at SR Nagar here on Wednesday.
Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission Chairman T Sriranga Rao was also present on the occasion. Radhakrishna was impressed by the real-time data at the smart grid control centre and appreciated TSSPDCL and its partners for developing and implementing the technology successfully.
He said pro-environment policy-makers may view a smart grid as key to protecting the nation’s investment in the future as the world moves toward renewable energy. Finally, consumers, if given control over some smart grid features, may see smart grid systems as tools to assist them in making better-informed decisions regarding their energy consumption.
The smart meter technology is the first remote communication device designed for smart grid application. The IDA Jeedimetla smart grid pilot project can manage remotely over 13,000 devices from the smart grid control centre including smart meters, DCUs, routers, auto-reclosures and sectionalisers among others.
