Medak: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) candidate for Medak LAC Dr Vonteri Yadava Reddy has won the election with a massive 524 votes majority. The TRS candidate Dr Yadava Reddy has secured 762 votes while his nearest rival and Congress candidate T Nirmala has secured 238 votes.
The lone independent candidate in the election fray Matta Malla Reddy has got 6 votes. Out of 1,018 votes polled, six votes were declared as invalid. The Constituency was having 1,026 votes. Since Dr Reddy had got more than 50 per cent of first priority votes, the election authorities did not take up the counting of second priority votes. The result of the counting, which was conducted at Government Junior College Medak, was declared by Returning Officer and Collector Medak S Harish at 9.45 am.
The counting has commenced at 8am on Monday. Speaking to news reporters after his victory, Dr Reddy has thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Finance Minister T Harish Rao, MP Medak Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, MLCs, MLAs, ZPTC, MPTCs, Municipal Councillors and others for their support. He said that he will always be available for people across his Constituency. The TRS leaders and cadre erupted in celebration after the victory. Jai KCR and Jai TRS slogans vented the air.
