Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao said the TRS in general and people of Dubbak Assembly constituency in particular miss MLA Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy badly.
Addressing a gathering after unveiling a massive bronze statute of Ramalinga Reddy at Chittapur near Dubbak on Tuesday, the Minister said he had a great bonding with Ramalinga Reddy who was elected on TRS ticket from Dommata and Dubbak constituencies four times. Ramalinga Reddy died of illness on August 6, 2020, at 58.
Recalling Ramalinga Reddy’s leadership qualities during the second phase of the Telangana movement, Rao said that Reddy had played a vital role by participating in multiple protest programmes besides motivating people with his speeches.
Saying that he is taking the responsibility of the Dubbak development on his shoulders, the Finance Minister said that they will develop the Constituency. Remembering Ramalinga Reddy’s concern towards public issues, he said that the former Dubbak MLA used to get a development work inaugurated on his birthday. “It is the first meeting I am participating in Chittapur, Ramalinga Reddy’s birthplace, post his death,” Rao lamented.
“I remembered Ramalinga Reddy when the water was released into Mallanna Sagar recently since he had played a key role in land acquisition by mobilising the support of the people. I remembered when Sri Balaji Temple was inaugurated in Dubbak because he played his part in the construction of the massive temple in Dubbak. I recalled his association while laying the foundation for a new bus station in Dubbak, he said and added saying that it is sad that Ramalinga Reddy was not among us today.
MP Medak Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Ramalinga Reddy’s wife Sujatha and his son Sathish Reddy, Nandini Sida Reddy, Goreti Venkanna, Despathi Srinivas and others were present.
