Khammam: The TRS government was committed to the welfare of workers serving in various government departments, said Telangana State Electricity Workers Union (affiliated to TRSKS) district honorary president Gundala Krishna.

As part of that commitment the government has been implementing many programmes for their welfare. Impressed by such programmes workers were joining the labour unions affiliated to TRS Karmika Sangham (TRSKS), he said.

At a programme at the TRS district office here on Saturday several electricity workers joined the TS Electricity Workers Union affiliated to the TRSKS in the presence of Krishna.

Addressing the workers on the occasion, he said after the TRS government came to power, an unprecedented 35 per cent PRC was offered to electricity department workers for which the union state honorary president, MLC K Kavitha and state president Koduri Prakash played a crucial role, Krishna said. As promised by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao around 23,000 contract workers have been regularised. At present, they were getting all the facilities on par with the regular employees, the TRSKS leader said.

Similarly, about 13,600 additional posts have been filled up and as many as 2358 junior line men were appointed with the efforts made by the union, Krishna said adding that it helped to reduce the workload on the workers. The government also allowed transfer of workers to their desired areas because of the union. Thus, the State government has been addressing the workers’ issues in a phased manner, he added.

The union State working president, BVS Murthy, district working president Mudika Srinivas, district president and secretary Battula Satyanarayana and Uppala Srinivas, J Naresh, B Nageshwar Rao and others were present.
