Hyderabad: Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Monday said the TRS government was striving for the welfare of Muslims for the last seven years.
Interacting with people during an election campaign for Nagarjunasagar Assembly constituency by-election in Yacharam and Kasivarigudem in Anumula mandal, he listed out various welfare schemes introduced for Muslims by the TRS government since 2014.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao started gurukul educational institutions and introduced ‘Shaadi-Mubarak’ schemes for Muslims apart from giving scholarships to students who are intending to pursue education in foreign countries, he said.
Asara pensions were also given to the eligible beneficiaries, the Minister explained.
He accused the Congress of ignoring the welfare of Muslims during their tenure in united Andhra Pradesh. He alleged that the former Minister and Congress candidate K Jana Reddy also ignored the development of the constituency after electing as MLA several times.
“Jana Reddy was MLA for over 25 years but there was no development in the constituency. He completely neglected the constituency,” he said, adding that he did nothing concrete for the welfare of Muslims.
But it was the TRS government, which introduced schemes and worked for the development of Muslims, he added.
Mahmood Ali along with the Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and other TRS MLAs was taking part in the election campaign for party candidate Nomula Bhagat, son of sitting MLA from the constituency, Nomula Narsimhaiah, who died in December last.
