Hyderabad: Government Whip Guvvala Balaraju charged that BJP was working against the federal spirit of the country.
He demanded the BJP government to hold a special debate during the ongoing parliament session on the contributions made by Congress and BJP governments for the welfare of Dalits, he said.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao appealed for drafting a new Constitution as there was no justice or development of Dalits during the Congress and BJP governments regime, he said.
“There were occasions when BJP leaders commented on the SC, ST Atrocities Act. Now, they are claiming welfare of Dalits,” said Guvvala Balaraju at a press conference here on Thursday.
The Chief Minister spoke well within the Constitutional rights. Due to lack of awareness, opposition parties were criticizing him to derive political mileage, he charged.
PUC Chairman Jeevan Reddy said the Chief Minister spoke against Central Government as there were no measures for the welfare of farmers and dalits in the Union Budget.
“If Rythu Bandhu and Dalit Bandhu schemes have to be implemented across the country, then there is a need for a new Constitution. Also if public sector units have to be safeguarded, then a new Constitution has to be drafted,” said Jeevan Reddy.
BJP and Congress leaders raise Jai Bheem slogans during elections and ignore the welfare of Dalits after the elections. This is how they have been deceiving the Dalits all these years, he said.
