TRS Legal Cell thanks CJI for increasing TS High Court Bench Strength

On February 13, first Chief Justice of TS HC Justice TB Radha Krishnan wrote to the Union Law Minister requesting an increase in the bench strength in view of the backlog cases

Hyderabad: The TRS Legal Cell thanked Chief Justice of India NV Ramana for his approval to increase the bench strength of the High Court of Telangana from 24 to 42.

In a statement, the Legal Cell said the combined High Court of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana had a strength of 61 judges on the date of bifurcation. The TS High Court came into effect on January 1, 2019, with an allotted strength of 24 judges, and the number of cases pending as on the said date was 1.87 lakh cases.


On February 13, first Chief Justice of TS HC Justice TB Radha Krishnan wrote to the Union Law Minister requesting an increase in the bench strength in view of the backlog cases. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao also wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to expedite the proposal.
