Hyderabad: BJP MLA M Raghunandan Rao on Thursday took exception to Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao’s comment that Telangana would be merged with Andhra Pradesh if the BJP was voted to power next time.

“The TRS leaders are attempting to derive mileage by raking up Telangana sentiment. The agenda behind the intolerance was only to blame BJP in Telangana. They started a blame and mind game stating that the BJP was against Telangana,” he said at a press conference here.

He clarified that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not speak a single word against Telangana in Parliament. “Anyone can verify it,” the BJP MLA said and found fault with TRS leaders for time and again referring to the biased attitude of the Centre towards north and south India.

“The TRS leaders should not forget that 165 MPs from north India voted in support of Telangana Bill,” he said. Stating that the Centre was not showing any discrimination towards Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, he said the Centre released Rs 22,000 crore for highways in AP.

Raghunandan Rao said the BJP always works for smaller States. “It is our policy. The NDA government under the leadership of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee established three States for administrative convenience only,” he said.
