Hyderabad: The ruling TRS decided to go all guns blazing during the GHMC election campaign and give a fitting reply to the Opposition parties which are resorting to false propaganda. Besides taking on the Opposition parties, Chief Minister and TRS President K Chandrashekhar Rao instructed the party members to reach out to every household and explain to them about the welfare and development activities taken up by the State government in the State Capital.

Chandrashekhar Rao chaired the meeting of the TRS Parliamentary Party and the Legislative Party at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday. During the brainstorming session, he instructed the party leaders to work hard and reach out to every doorstep in Greater Hyderabad seeking votes for TRS in the GHMC polls. He wanted them to expose the obstructive politics of the Opposition parties especially the BJP State leaders. He said that despite the requests from the State government, the BJP-led Central government did not release a paisa towards flood relief in the wake of recent heavy rains and subsequent floods in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas.

“They would not release funds towards flood relief. Instead, they resort to obstructive politics by writing letters to the Election Commission and seeking to stop the financial assistance being extended to the flood-affected families in GHMC and its surrounding municipalities. Moreover, they claim to have released funds towards flood relief which they did not. It is high time that TRS leaders expose their lies before the people of Telangana State. When the State government is trying to help the flood victims in the most transparent manner by accepting applications through Mee Seva centres and depositing their financial assistance into their bank accounts, such obstructive politics should not be spared,” he said.

The TRS President wanted the Ministers and MLAs to expose the double standards and obstructive politics of the BJP leaders with immediate effect. He assured to extend financial assistance to all the eligible flood-affected families after the election results are declared. He said that the TRS government spent about Rs 67,000 crore for development activities in Hyderabad over the past six years and handed over the division-wise list of works taken up to the party in-charges.

The Chief Minister announced the names of the party in-charges for all 150 divisions and handed over the division-wise voters list as well as TRS activists list to them. He said the names of the TRS candidates will be released in two phases on Wednesday night and Thursday morning respectively. He expressed confidence that TRS will win more than 100 seats in GHMC elections and all surveys conducted by the party received positive response from people in this regard.

Earlier, Chandrashekhar Rao, TRS working president and Minister KT Rama Rao, Ministers and legislators paid floral tributes to the portrait of former Home Minister Nayini Narasimha Rao who passed away recently due to illness. The Chief Minister introduced the new MLCs Kavitha, Goreti Venkanna, Baswaraju Saraiah and Bogarapu Dayanand Gupta to the sitting TRS Parliament members and the legislators.
