Hyderabad: The TRS on Tuesday urged the Election Commission of India to deploy more staff and increase the number of voter enrolment centres by 10 times for the upcoming elections to two Graduates constituencies in the State. It was pointed out that many voters were not well-versed with the online registration process and those who were visiting the enrolment centres located in the MRO offices were facing problems due to lack of staff and equipment.
In a letter submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer here on Tuesday, TRS general secretary and MLC M Srinivas Reddy requested the Election Commission to provide adequate training to the new staff and also take steps to expedite the verification process of voters enrolled online within the stipulated time. He explained that several voters were getting disheartened by the absence of staff and equipment at several enrolment centres as well as delay in enrolment process and were returning home.
The ECI commenced voters enrolment for two Graduates constituencies for which elections are due, as term of MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and N Ramachadra Rao is scheduled to end in March, 2020. The last date for enrolment of voters for the Graduates constituencies is November 6, 2020.
