Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Saturday complained to the State Election Commission that TRS was using public places such as Metro pillars, RTC bus shelters and public toilets to advertise election-related material.
The Congress urged the Commission to issue orders to remove the TRS advertisements immediately. TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, after submitting the letter to the TSEC here, told the media that the party had urged the State Election Commissioner C Parthasarathi to ensure free and fair GHMC elections.
“Advertising on public places like Metro pillars and bus stands tantamount to clear breach of code of conduct,” he said. He criticised the State government for claiming that Rs 67,000 crore had been spent on development of the city. “The government must explain the developmental activities on which it was spent,” he said.
Coming down heavily on BJP, he said that both the BJP and MIM had a tacit understanding and both were playing the communal card. “They worked together in Bihar where MIM helped cut the secular vote to benefit BJP,” he said. He wanted to know what BJP had done for the development of the city. “Congress got Metro rail and Outer Ring Road, BJP which was in power at the Centre for over six years did nothing for the city. It has no right to accuse Congress of inaction,” he said.
He accused BJP of luring Congress leaders with money. “It seems BJP assigned that work to party national general secretary Bhupender Yadav,” he said.
