Nirmal: Tribal Welfare Minister Sathyavathi Rathod on Wednesday said that the TRS party, which had bagged 68 and 88 seats in the past two Assembly elections, will win the public mandate with a thumping majority in the next elections to Telangana Legislative Assembly, considering the developmental activities and novel schemes.
She was speaking to reporters after convening a review with district authorities and public representatives here. She was joined by forest minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy.
Sathyavathi said farmers across the State were celebrating the release of Rs 50,000 crore under the Rythu Bandhu scheme. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao made farming a festival and farmer the king, she said.
Chandrasekhar Rao built the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme which was thought to be impossible and rejuvenated the Sri Ram Sagar Project, the Minister said. Mission Kakatiya brought life to hundreds of irrigation tanks and uninterrupted power was being supplied to the agriculture sector, she pointed out.
Sathyavathi said the State government was procuring paddy from the fields of farmers and that it was extending life insurance of Rs 5 lakh to farmers by paying annual premium of Rs 1,450 and waived crop loans worth Rs 17,000 crore. . All these factors helped agriculture sector to flourish like never before, she reasoned.
“BJP leaders are making baseless allegations against the government as they were jealous of the growth and good governance witnessed in Telangana. They should comment on the initiatives of the State only after finding similar innovative schemes in States ruled by the saffron party, failing which, they don’t have the moral right to criticise the State,” she maintained.
The minister recalled that several union Ministers had praised the schemes implemented by Telangana, while Central officials studied many initiatives. “The people of Telangana are fortunate to have Chandrasekhar Rao, who was aware of needs and requirements of every section of society, as their chief minister,” she said.
Sathyavathi stated that Chandrasekhar Rao provided three-phase electricity to tribal habitations, realizing the 75-year old dream of tribals and spending Rs 250 crore. She said that tribals and the poor were always seen as a vote bank. But, Rao ensured development and self-respect of the socially challenged communities and as a result, the TRS could win 15 more seats than the past, she asserted.
She observed that the erstwhile Adilabad district was undergoing unprecedented growth with the help of vision and hard work by the minister Indrakaran Reddy. She stated that pattas would be given to tribals who till forest lands, besides creating irrigation and power facilities to the fields and extending Rythu Bheema and Rythu Bandhu to the farmers.
