Patancheru: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has bagged all the three divisions under Patancheru circle of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) with a thumping majority. While they have retained both the Bharati Nagar and Ramachandrapuram divisions, they wrested the Patancheru division from Congress. Interestingly, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates stood second in all three divisions though it was once no force in the constituency in the past.
TRS candidate V Sindhu Adharsh Reddy has won the Bharathi Nagar division for the second time by defeating her nearest rival and BJP candidate Godavari Anji Reddy with a majority of 4,658 votes. Though the TRS has changed their sitting corporator in Ramachandrapuram, the smallest division in GHMC, it has won the election comfortably. TRS Candidate Pushpa Nagesh has defeated BJP’s Narasmhulu Goud by 5,759 votes.
In Patancheru division, TRS candidate Mettu Kumar Yadav has wrested the seat from Congress with a thumping majority of 6,083 votes. BJP candidate Ashish Goud stood second in the division sideling the Congress. Finance Minister T Harish Rao was appointed as in-charge for Patancheru Circle. Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy and Andole MLA Chanti Kranthi Kiran had actively participated in the campaign.
The TRS cadres and leaders have erupted with joy after the results of three divisions were announced. The counting for these centres was held at Chandanagar counting centre. Speaking on the occasion, Patancheru MLA Mahipal Reddy thanked the voters for keeping their faith in TRS. Saying that the voters had supported TRS government led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Reddy congratulated the candidates and thanked the party leaders and cadres for their relentless efforts during the fortnight-long campaign.
