Mancherial: The Telangana Recognised Schools Association (TRSMA) is drawing flak for closing schools in view of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s tour to the district here on Monday.

In a message circulated on WhatsApp groups of private schools in the town, the members said all the roads would be blocked and transport of the students wouldn’t be convenient. So, it will be a holiday for the school on Monday. The decision has shocked parents of the students, who expressed displeasure.

They opined that the move would leave an adverse impact on the learning process of the students. They observed that restrictions could be imposed on traffic and school buses might be allowed instead of announcing holiday. Mancherial is comparatively a small town, they reasoned.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Raghunath Verabelli condemned the decision of the TRSMA. He found fault with the association by forcibly making teachers and lecturers of private colleges to attend the meeting of Revanth Reddy. He urged the election commission to take stringent action against the body for blackmailing the educational institutions even as the model code of conduct was in force.
