Truck driver seriously injured in collision on Hyderabad–Vijayawada highway

A truck driver sustained serious injuries after his vehicle rammed into a stationary container truck on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway. Hayathnagar police and rescue teams took nearly an hour to pull the trapped driver from the mangled cabin and shift him to hospital.

Hyderabad: A truck driver was seriously injured after the vehicle he was driving crashed into a stationary vehicle on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway on Wednesday early morning.

According to police, the speeding truck rammed into a stationary container truck from behind due to the impact, the driver, Sampangi Naveen of Chinna Raviryala village, trapped inside the mangled cabin.

On receiving information, the Hayathnagar Police personnel and ambulance staff rushed to the spot and carried out a rescue operation for nearly an hour and rescued him.

“Using cutters, they managed to pull Naveen out of the cabin and shifted him to a nearby private hospital with severe injuries,” said an official adding that his condition was currently stable.

The accident caused major traffic disruption on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada highway for some time.

The traffic police diverted vehicles onto the service road to ease congestion and restore traffic flow.

The Hayathnagar police are investigating.
