New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has urged Microsoft to dismiss its Head of Global Affairs, Lisa Monaco, calling her “corrupt,” “deranged,” and “a menace to US national security.”

On his Truth Social account, Trump claimed Monaco’s senior position at Microsoft — a company with major government contracts — gave her access to sensitive information that she “cannot be trusted” to handle. He said he has already revoked her security clearances and barred her from federal properties.

According to a report by The Verge, Trump has turned his attention to Monaco after previously targeting Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan and TV host Jimmy Kimmel.

Monaco joined Microsoft in May to lead global government engagement after a long public service career. She earlier served as the 39th US Deputy Attorney General under President Joe Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland — which, the report suggested, “seems her biggest crime in Trump’s eyes.”

While it is unclear why Trump raised the issue now, The Verge noted he may only recently have become aware of her role at Microsoft. The company has not usually been in Trump’s direct line of fire, though it recently scaled back cooperation with the Israeli military over surveillance of Palestinian civilians.

Separately, Microsoft has expressed concern about Trump’s revised H-1B visa rules. Earlier this month, the company advised employees with H-1B and H-4 visas outside the US to return immediately, ahead of the September 21 deadline for the $100,000 visa fee announced by the Trump administration.
